About University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

The University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, UW - Whitewater or UWW, is a four-year, co-educational, residential college located in Whitewater, which is a city in Jefferson and Walworth counties, in Wisconsin state, USA, with over 13 400 people, living within its limits, as estimated during the 2000 census.

The university was established in 1868 and was originally called Whitewater Normal School. It adopted it present name, after it became part of the University of Wisconsin System, in 1971. It offers its students `an exceptional learning experience`, with numerous educational choices, from which they can choose, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Athletics

UWW's athletic teams are known as the Warhauks and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are purple and white and their mascot is Willie Warhawk.
